Przyznano British Book Awards, nagrody literackie dla najlepszych brytyjskich twórców przyznawane przez magazyn „The Bookseller”.
Pisarka dla dzieci Katherine Rundell została uznana za Autorkę Roku. Nagrodę zdobyła też jej najnowsza książka „Impossible Creatures”.
Boris Akunin otrzymał nagrodę Freedom to Publish. Akunin mieszka w Londynie po opuszczeniu Rosji w 2014 roku po nielegalnej aneksji ukraińskiego Półwyspu Krymskiego przez Moskwę. Wraz z tancerzem-choreografem Michaiłem Barysznikowem i innymi współzałożył platformę True Russia, która wspiera ukraińskich uchodźców i Rosjan uciekających przed prześladowaniami politycznymi.
Podczas ceremonii Akunin powiedział: „Jestem niezmiernie zaszczycony otrzymaniem tej nagrody. Jestem też niezmiernie smutny, ponieważ jestem rosyjskim autorem bez możliwości publikowania we własnym kraju. Moim marzeniem jest doczekać czasów, w których nie będzie potrzeby przyznawania tej nagrody nigdzie na świecie, czasy, w których 'Wolność Publikowania’ przejdzie do historii”.
Tytuł Wydawcy Roku zdobyło wydawnictwo Ebury.
Book-ish Crickhowell uznano za najlepszą Niezależną Księgarnię.
